June 13, 2017

Transfers are today and lucky for me, I, my trainer, and Hermana Stanley are staying. Hermana Aguilar 'died', but a great sister missionary comes tonight. We are playing tetris with our beds to fit them into one room. Haha.

Our wonderful investigator Angeles is just in love with the Gospel and she is working on word of wisdom now. She is a health nut (hmm... does that sound familiar haha) and works selling some product with natural healing, genetics, and nutrition. Super interesting. It is like a scanner of your hair and tells you what to eat to be more healthy. Anyways, she received a beautiful priesthood blessing on sunday. Her schedule is very crazy, so we don't get to see her very often which is hard.

We sang at a funeral for a sweet old woman in our ward. We visited and sang for her last week. It was in a catholic chapel for convenience. Luckily they removed the giant cross and ceremonial objects, but it was interesting to have a mormon meeting in a catholic setting....

Carlos, a man from Colombia that contacted us on the street, has a lot of potential. He came to a Noche de Hogar (FHE) last night with a family in another ward and loves to come to activities, but loves fishing and doesn't make church a priority. He's interesting and a little difficult to read, but I have hope.

Garolina our transgender... We had our last lesson with him. He was doing great, but then wouldn't let us talk at all and had some issues with our view of family and gender, so we tried our best, but sadly he used his agency to move forward with the change. His favorite thing to talk about "it's not that I feel like a woman, it's that I am" sentir v. ser is his favorite topic.... uh... oh well.

Taiwo is this member from Nigeria that we read the Children's Book of Mormon with every week to help her read. She is so great! Her husband is less active, but she still sacrifices so much to be at church every sunday. Her husband was at her house this last time and joined us in reading. It was so fun. He promised to come to church, but neither of them were there, so hopefully this next week.

We had a lot of citas fire and lots of disinterested people, but that is okay!
I learned a lot this week. I really feel like a new person and it has only been a transfer.

This week in my studies I found a lot relating to "the least shall be the greatest." God's ways are higher than ours. Instead of Kings and the rich and powerful being the greatest, God works through the small and simple. I love our weaknesses because we have room to grow. Bearing testimony every day all day is the greatest.

I know the church is true. The Book of Mormon is the word of God. I love being a missionary! I know that as we give ourselves to God  and forget ourselves, there is true joy!

Love you all!!
