Hola mis queridos!
Estoy muy contenta a ser una misionera ahora! :)
I absolutely love the ward, the work (hard though it may be), the spirit, my investigators, everything :)
So many miracles this week! It's hard to fit them all it such a short time!
This week we had a marvelous lesson with a Spaniard women named Felisa. I literally saw the spirit just spark inside her. She sacrificed to meet with us, and was exactly on time. It was a miracle we met her to begin with, we had a cita with Angeles in a park on a thursday morning. Angeles was very late, but because we were there on time we met Felisa on the corner. We taught about the Book of Mormon and Leccion 0 (get to know you, why we are there, that sort of thing), and she told us she was just curious, but after several inspired questions and powerful testimonies, she was asking us how she can have the light we have. I walked away just glowing with the spirit. I love being a missionary for moments like that. I know I didn't teach her, the spirit did, which is the best feeling ever because it means i am doing my job. She went out of town, but we have another cita with her this week and i am very excited!
Angeles has her fecha for this Saturday. She had to work all week and didn't make it to stake conference, so we still have loads to teach her, but luckily we have a noche de hogar with her and the bishop's family tonight. I have faith everything will be in God's timing.
José and Esperanza are FINALLY reading!! Hopefully this sparks them into action because right now they are inching along.
Garolina, our transgender, has very interesting questions regarding family and gender of course. He is very smart and has a genuine desire to know. I pray we can help him find it before he begins taking his hormone pills...
Another miracle! This week I was leading the area and we didn't have any citas in the morning so we picked somewhere niether of us had been to and came home with 4 news. Two of which are young spaniard girls that i just adore and also an Ecuadorian that i think will be a marvelous counselor in the bishopric one day.
The work is going strong.
I feel incredibly blessed! Especially since Elder Adler of the 70 came to Valencia for Stake Conference and I got to tag along with his wife and the stake relief society president to their visits and it was incredible. My companion had to translate because Sister Adler is from Germany and doesn't speak any spanish, nor do the spaniards speak english. But wow, my testimony really grew. The lord really knows his children and who needed their message. The spirit was so powerful. I learned a lot about the importance and power of the basics. It all came back to the power of the Book of Mormon, prayer, the sacrament and repentance, keeping the commandments, and service. If we do the basics everyday, God will give us power from heaven to overcome, or endure any challenge.
I challenge you all to try those 5 basics, and if you see improvement, do it again tomorrow and repeat the next day. I promise you will find strength to do the impossible.
Lots of love,
Hermana Read
