Hello!
I had the most marvelous week. Heavenly Father has really blessed us, in fact I don't think I could be anymore blessed!
Tuesday I went into Maritza's house expecting to be faced with doubts and questions about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon like Andrea had told me about. We sit down, open with a prayer, then I asked her what are your concerns? And she proceeded to explain how she had decided to wait a year to be baptized with her love in Bolivia, but how just Sunday/Monday she was reading Alma 32 as I had invited her to, and the spirit just told her that this is true and now is the time. She has the most incredible faith. She told us she wanted to be baptized as soon as possible. Even though her family could not be there. She wanted so badly for her sister and her mother to be there, but they had work, and she had to work in the afternoon, but she couldn't deny the spirit. It was a really beautiful service. (I got to speak about the Holy Ghost again (my favorite :).) It was a moment I will never forget to stand there hugging her in the bathroom with Hna McConkie and how she told us how wonderful it felt to be reborn just like it says in the scriptures. She told Andrea later "I didn't see a light like you, but I felt something even more marvelous." In her testimony, she talked about how at first she didn't want anything but the spirit opened her heart and how her life has changed. My whole insides were just burning with Joy. I more than anything just feel how grateful I am that my Heavenly Father gave me a front row seat and how I had absolutely nothing to do with it. It is God's work and He works by His Spirit.
Hers was Saturday morning and Yosuart's baptism was in the afternoon. It was very well attended by our ward and our street contact Yos from Peru (the one that was walking his dog last week), well he without even a lesson came to the baptism!!! He was really nerveous, "am I allowed to be here? Can I go in?" But thankfully our recent RM member Alex took him under his wing as we ran about setting things up. In the end, he loved it! He had to leave early and missed the testimonies, but he still had a great experience! He didn't make it to church yesterday, but we are very excited to meet with him this week!
Yosuart's baptism was very moving. He took of his prosletic leg and hopped in the font. He was very stable, and they had another man in the font to help. His testimony was even more powerful. He talked about how God has led his life. From the accident resulting in the amputation 4 years and how that made him really search for God. He shared his favorite scripture in matthew about cutting off a hand or a limb to enter into the kingdom of God and how literal that spoke to him. He has changed completely, and is excited for the changes coming and for the oportunity to help so many others with his experience. He already is helping so many through social media. He loves to share verses of the BoM. He is wonderful!
It was an amazing experience to sing at his as well. The other hermanas joined us and we sang EFY's Come Unto Christ in Spanish and it was the first time I have really been able to perform and not just sing hymns in groups, and it just reminded me how much I love performing! It was much needed!! I had almost forgotten, but now I remember why, because the spirit speaks so well through music. I was just so thrilled with how everything turned out and everyone LOVED it and told us how we are angles. Once again, I just felt extremely grateful for the talents God has given me and the oportunity to use them for His work.
Happiest 6 months here in Spain! I feel so extremely blessed. A member went way out of his way to learn how to cook my favorite dish, and I just feel incredibly blessed from all fronts. I love the work and I love these people with all my heart and I love you all! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! Your prayers felt and greatly appriciated!
Love you all!!
