Big news:
I AM OPENING BARCELONA 3 AND TRAINING A NEW MISSIONARY!!!
I get to meet her tomorrow :) I am THRILLED!!!
For our mission it is really quite rare to train with only 6 months and to open and train... well let's just say God has a lot to teach little Hermana Read, and it is a really good thing I LOVE good hard work and a nice challenge to motivate me :)
My last week in Valencia was just filled with SO much love. My goodness. These people are my family!!! I didn't cry but several others did.
It was amazing to reflect on the miracles I have seen HUGE and small. Andrea got her patriarcal blessing this week and is now Secretary of the Relief Society. She is incredible! And is making such a difference in the ward and in her family. Yosuart is amazing and is really going to do incredible things in this world and in the church. The High Priests Group Leader told me that he proposed his name for a calling. He couldn't tell me what, but the bishop is working on it. He just got a job as a chef and is working his schedule to make it to church. He testified of prayer and how the gospel has changed his life. Maritza told me how she never ever thought she'd be where she is today and she is just glowing with the light and joy of the gospel. She too is thriving and just incredible.
I wrote and marked up in a Book of Mormon for Esperanza a while ago and I know she's been reading because she told me she found one then went through page by page to find the rest haha. She said the most beautiful prayer, she thanked God for sending me to them and for the increase in their desires and their relationships with God. I am so amazed by all the progress I have seen with her and Jose too is reading! Baby steps, still waiting on the citizenship to get married.
We started a 40 day ward fast for their own missionary opportunities, and though it has only been just over a week and I have already felt a huge difference in the ward.
The members here treated me like a queen. Lorena drew my portrait and many more gifted me bracelets and pijamas and earrings and LOTS AND LOTS of chocolate to share with my Baby :)
Angeles' son Juan Pablo is INCREDIBLE. He is coming back from the lowest of low and is seeking love, truth, and peace. He is seeking Christ and just eats up anything we give him.
Also tender mercies: I refound a contact from my first few weeks. He didn't have a phone before and we left a note on his door when we passed by, and didn't hear from him. 6 months later, and we found him and he remembered me and told me about the impression we made on him and the light that he recognized. He told us how he felt drawn to us.
Eduardo prayed for the first time in YEARS. YEARS. Voluntarily to say the closing prayer. It was amazing. The spirit changes lives and saves families. Little by little, their family is working to be forever!
I learned so much from Hermana McConkie, and I am pleased to report that I did just as I promised, we found so much more unity. I learned a lot about sacrifice and understanding. I learned to not be reactionary but patient and loving. I love her so much and it is truly amazing to see how she has grown. She is night and day happier.
I know all of these are blesssings and fruits of the spirit and I am truly incredibly grateful for the oportunity to be an instrument in God's hands and I am so excited to see what miracles God has in store here in Barcelona. and to learn all that He needs me to do and be and I am so excited to be trained by my baby :)
I love you all! Keep praying I feel it everyday!
